And I made it through another year of Nanowrimo. I hit 50,000 words the day before Thanksgiving, and haven’t touched the story since…It still needs an ending, and I’m not sure I’ll ever do anything with this one, but it was a needed break from the novel I’ve been working on for a year, and it feels fantastic to hit that 50K mark.
For December, I have a few other goals in mind. First and foremost, I’d like to make up for some of that blogging time I missed in November. I missed you guys. I hope your Novembers rocked. (I know many of you are waiting for the latest installment of the Selling Wihtout Fear series. Look for that next week.)
My other goal for this month is to get some Christmas crafting done. I’ve been experimenting with candles lately–which could easily become a new obsession. Little tins like the ones in the photo below are so fun and easy to make.
And of course, I’ve been making a little Christmas soap. I love how pretty the rose petals are.
Something about winter makes me want to experiment with balms and body butters and bath salts. It’s all I can think about lately, but that could just be that my brain needs a wee break from fiction writing.
What are your plans for December?
Browsing through Etsy has brought up some great gift ideas. I thought I would share just a little bit of what I have found over the past few days. Maybe it will help inspire you too.
Deathly Hallows Necklace
DK Weight Yarn in a Brilliant Green
Hand Painted Sock Yarn
As for myself, I am still knitting as fast as I can. I have Christmas gifts and hopefully another quick and free pattern before Christmas. Back to it then!
I am in love with my new Lace colorway, Curry. I know it is basically winter, and I am supposed to be moving on to a more wintery palette full of heathery jewel tones, but I can’t seem to get myself off orange. Whenever I look at this yarn, I think of long, delicate lace evening gloves or an elegant, spider web wisp of a shawl. That is saying something, because all I want to knit right now are sweaters.
Of course, I am knitting a good portion of my Christmas presents this year, because I don’t really have any money, but I do have plenty of time and yarn. However, my gratuitous sweater knitting is being somewhat hindered by numerous small projects. Not that I am complaining. I love the feeling of accomplishment which comes with completing a whole project after only a few hours worth of work. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have four sweaters just waiting to hop on the needles. (I do have to say that I don’t especially like knitting glove fingers. I hereby declare that I will only knit mittens from now on!)
I only have six more small projects to go, so I better get myself on it. (That doesn’t even count my design projects-Oy!)
How is your holiday crafting coming along?
*I am running a little special in my shop from now until Christmas just to help out with the overwhelming nature of the holidays. Free shipping on all domestic (US only) purchases from now through Christmas. What a great time to get one of those sweater lots!
